For the record: I’m alive

My schedule’s just been rather full for my introvert standards, what with cons (SEBASTIAN STAN!), the wedding of my oldest friend and other mostly good things (except for my laptop almost dying on me). It’s put me in the mood to write nothing longer than Masto posts.

This includes fanfiction, with the exception of my 520 fic: θΆŠη•Œ (Yue Jie – Crossing a Border)

I’ve gotten so much lovely feedback on my first real Guardian fic, it’s made me feel somewhat guilty for being so behind on all the amazing new content. (The one I got was great, though – Make a Gamble, Take a Gamble by Trobadora, an exploration of episodes 23/24. *hearteyes*)

Also, I am currently rewatching the show from start with a couple of other people on watch2gether. We’re currently at ep 7. It’s usually at 8pm CET and I announce it on Fandom.ink, in case you’re interested… πŸ™‚

Multifandom drabble exchange reveal

So I wrote three little drabbles for the Multifandom Drabble Exchange:

I also received FIVE drabbles of my own, in four different fandoms, which just made my day – fandom is so great!!

Lazy weekend

I, umm, didn’t leave my house this weekend. Oops? πŸ™‚ I did, however, do lots of inside stuff:

  • set up my “new” phone (my Sony’s been crapping out on me, although it’s barely 2 years old, so I bought a refurbished Samsung). They always say how easy it’s supposed to be, but in the end I updated stuff for most of the day.
  • signed up for the Guardian Reverse Exchange.
  • did some exercises the trainer at my gym showed me on Friday. After such a long break I’m seriously out of shape, it’s very frustrating, so I’ll try to do them at home, too.
  • edited and posted the next Shipping (Pod)Cast episode to Patreon: Connor Murphy x Evan Hansen (Dear Evan Hansen) with Nich (public release April 5).
  • recorded the episode after that, giving me a well-appreciated buffer before the next deadline.

I also watched the next episode of my current Boys Love addiction – He’s Coming to Me is cute, warm-hearted, and hitting ALL the emotional beats. Although we’re only 4 subbed episodes in, I’ve already added it to my recs list (which I’ve been updating, btw). Met and Thun are totally adorable and have such sweet chemistry, plus I’m actually invested in the plot: Met is a ghost, and Thun is the only person who can see him. So they a) can’t touch, for extra feels, and b) have to figure out how Met died. And above all of this reincarnation looms… Usually I’d worry about a tragic ending, but the whole show has such a positive spirit overall, I think it’ll be hopeful in some way, even if I can’t see how. Well, only four more episodes, apparently…

Oh, and I finally watched episode 30 of Guardian – things are definitely coming to a head!

A little bit of light afternoon stalking – aka Zhu Yilong is in my town!!!

For the record: I’m writing this down in detail because asya and fangirlishness are complete enablers. πŸ˜‰

So, last night, just as I was about to head to bed, I saw something on Tumblr about Shen Wei himself, Zhu Yilong, attending the watch & jewelry fair Baselworld. In case you don’t know – I live in Basel, and I might have lost it a little bit when I realized that at this very moment I was only a couple of kilometres away from this gorgeous creature… (That’s the suit he’s wearing today.)

The three most beautiful days

That’s what we call Fasnacht, our carnival in Basel, which is happening right now – actually it’s ending tomorrow morning at 6am, having started Monday 4am. (Yes, we’re a week later than most, already officially in Lent – my theory is that they chose the date to thumb their noses at their Catholic neighbours, post-Reformation. Basel is special like that. *g*)

I missed most of it this year, only going to the children’s parade on Tuesday with my brother and his family (omg, my nephews were so fricking adorable!) and having a wander through town today, taking a look at some of the lanterns and floats. I did, however, have the mandatory foods: onion quiche and flour soup, yum!

I also booked the trains for the Shadowhunters con in Brussels in June. As an extra awesome perk, because traveling via Paris is fastest, I’ll leave a day early and spend the night with one of my Jalec gals. We’ll then travel to Brussels together. Yay for time in beautiful Paris!

In other news, I watched two more episodes of Guardian (eps 28/29), which means more liveblogs! πŸ™‚

First day

Back at work after over a month of sick leave. Surprisingly I managed to get caught up with most of it in a few hours – it was nice that several people said they were glad I was back. It’d be a bad sign if I wasn’t missed, after all. πŸ™‚

In Basel it’s carnival, so it was relatively quiet, and I even managed to work on my Jalec round robin chapter, which is due this Thursday.

And now for some Guardian – episode 27 from yesterday, and a rewatch of episode 1. πŸ˜‰

AO3 meme and Guardian liveblog

Some fanworks analysis from my AO3, as seen on Hubzilla:

Rules: Go to your AO3 works page, expand all the filters, and answer the following questions!
(Snagged from @Vaysh Swiftstorm )

I’m excluding my vids from this. (For the record, I’ve got 80 fanvids posted to AO3, almost half of which are Jalec.)

FANFIC – 407 (this includes several drabble collections)

What’re your first and second most common work ratings?
Teen And Up Audiences (144)
Explicit (107)

What’s your most common archive warning?
No Archive Warnings Apply (372)

Do you consider yourself an adventurous writer?
Not really.

How many fics have you written or podficced in each pairing category?
M/M (314)
F/M (82)
Gen (34)
Multi (27)
Other (4)
F/F (4)

Is this more accidental, or do you have preferences?
Oh no, slash is absolutely my preference. πŸ™‚

What are your top 4 fandoms by numbers?
Shadowhunters (TV) (98)
Backstreet Boys (51)
Lord of the Rings RPF (46)
The Lord of the Rings RPF (46)

Are you still active in any of them, and do you tend to migrate a lot?
Shadowhunters is very much still my most active fandom. I tend to migrate every couple of years.

What are your top 4 relationship tags?
Alec Lightwood/Jace Wayland (88)
Billy Boyd/Dominic Monaghan (38)
Howie Dorough/AJ McLean (27)
Patrick Stump/Pete Wentz (16)

Does this match how you feel about the characters, or are you puzzled?
They’re four of my OTPs, so it makes total sense. I actually wrote surprisingly little for Pete/Patrick, considering how much I loved them – but then, with Bandom the situation was similar to MCU/Stucky right now. There’s so much high-quality fic around, I don’t feel the urge to write (and the few I do write get lost). Jalec is definitely a less popular pairing – and getting feedback absolutely inspires me. πŸ™‚

What are your top 2 most used additional tags, and your bottom 2?
Angst (44)
First Time (43)

Post-Canon (23)
First Kiss (21)

What would happen if you combined all 4 of these into a fic?
Jace and Alec getting together at some point in the future, the angst being supplied by the fact that they both start out in their canon relationships and might even be married.

How many WIPs do you have currently running on AO3? Any you don’t plan on finishing?
9, excluding my drabble collections. The two that aren’t Shadowhunters are officially abandoned.

Also, forgot to share my Guardian liveblogs of eps 25 & 26 from yesterday:
